Once again a great new update has been released by Signify, the owner of Philips Hue lighting. The Philips Hue App version 4.8. In this update, we did receive three new features. Two of them had to do with the dynamic color schemes which were introduced in the 4.0 update of the Philips Hue app. So let’s dive into the changes. Default dynamic speed
This feature sounds a little controversial, but let me explain what it actually means. Dynamic scenes make sure lamps do not remain one color as was the case previously, but slowly change so that you can create an atmosphere in a completely new way. Before the speed of changing the colors was always the same. Since the Philips Hue App 4.8, every scene has its own default changing speed based on the mood of the scene.
Adjustible dynamic scenes speed
You can now adjust the speed at which the colors of a dynamic scene change. To accomplish this you have two options. First of all, to temporarily change the speed of a dynamic scene, you can click on the three-dots icon next to the scene currently playing and change the changing speed to a value between 1 and 12. If you rather set the default speed of a scene you can do so by clicking on the pencil icon and again changing speed to a value between 1 and 12.
Play around with this setting to discover what best fits hue (small joke š)!
Turkish translation
For all Turkish users of the Philips Hue app, this is great news. The Philips Hue App 4.8 brings back all the Turkish translations to the app.
Bug fixes & stability improvements
As with almost every update, bug fixes & stability improvements need to be done to keep the app up and running as you expect. This means coding bugs need to be crushed and old code needs to be thrown out of the window. Let’s hope we will see some nice performance improvements with this.
