What Is New in the Philips Hue App 4.7

Since Signify is behind the wheel of Philips Hue it seems that updates are released more frequently. Looking at their release notes, new releases occur every two to three weeks now which is great news for us! More Philips Hue updates mean more features for Hue lovers. So the question is, what is new in the Philips Hue app 4.7 version? You can read the full release notes here. But all topics are elaborated on right below.

Connect Philip Hue with Spotify

It’s been in the making for quite a while now and was available for early access for around two months. But it’s finally time, a feature a lot of tech-savvy nerds were looking for, connecting your Philips Hue lights to your Spotify. Let the lights bounce on your beat. In the near future, I will create a full guide for setting up this connection.

Dynamic color scenes

As I wrote in the 4.0 update of the Philips Hue app, dynamic scenes are now introduced to the Philips Hue app. Which makes sure lamps do not remain one color as was the case previously, but slowly change so that you can create an atmosphere in a completely new way. The Hue app 4.7 made this update available for all scenes, so try them out now! In a future update, you will also be able to alter the speed for changing the different colors.

Individual lights in automations

It is now possible to select individual lights when creating automation the in Automations tab. This will let you use your lights with more flexibility than ever. Note that when you select individual lights, you can only set the default light recipes.

Bug fixes & stability improvements

As with almost every update, bug fixes & stability improvements need to be done to keep the app up and running as you expect. This means coding bugs need to be crushed and old code needs to be thrown out of the window. Let’s hope we will see some nice performance improvements with this.
